A commercially endorsed Ocean Yachtmaster with over 35 years of diverse maritime experience, I consider myself a highly professional, self-motivated and a reliable individual.I am also have and Advanced Powerboat Qualification.
I have forward facing client experience and I enjoy sailing with the inexperienced as well as the seasoned sailor.
I was born and brought up at Lee-On-Solent on the South coast of the UK, where I sailed dinghies as a boy. In the late 1970s I crewed on racing keelboats and raced numerous types and sizes.
I completed my first Atlantic crossing in 1981 and worked as mate on a Swan 56, this included being involved in the corporate charter business. But my sailing experience has also included numerous offshore races.
During my working life i’ve lived in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, and on the South Coast of the UK. Throughout these years I’ve sailed continually including offshore races and campaigns on One design classes and IRC alike.
I continue to race and the during the 2016/17 seasons I’ve raced both inshore and during the RORC offshore series.
My recent sailing calendar has been no less busy. In 2015 I was involved in the delivery of various sailing vessels in the Mediterranean, around the UK and Northern Europe, I helped with Corporate racing and I completed my 27th Round the island race.
As well as this I have recently delivered bespoke training, and am principal skipper working with the Grieg City Academy - helping students from London learn to sail. This culminated in the much publicised Fastnet campaign of 2017 . In 2018/19 I have been working for a private client on variety of both sail and motor boats. In 2021 & 2022 I have been carrying out deliveries in Europe and the Uk and advising private clients
My ability to teach effectively is strengthened by my Certificate of Education from Southampton University, and I have additional qualifications in advanced first aid and the Management of Health and Safety at work.
In total I have clocked up more than 70,000 miles at sea (more than the circumference of the earth!) and I hope to add a few more.
